The following individuals automatically have library accounts:

  1. Currently registered students*.
  2. Currently employed classified and professional staff.
  3. Current employed faculty (tenure track and non-tenure track/adjunct).

Use your CatCard to check out physical items in the library. User your NetID and password to access the library electronically from off-campus .

*Students must be registered for the current term/semester (including summer) in order to be eligible.

  • Students who are not registered for the current semester are not eligible, even if they plan to re-enroll next semester. Student Enrollment Policy

Retired Faculty (Emeritus status):

Faculty who retire from MSU Bozeman do not automatically continue to receive the same library privileges as when employed. In order to receive those privileges, faculty must be granted Emeritus status. The library does not control Emeritus status. Emeriti titles may be granted by the president of chancellor of a campus to tenured faculty members upon retirement after approval by the Board of Regents. Details here.

Faculty not granted Emeritus status may apply for a Montana Resident Borrow card.

Community Members:

Citizens of the local community may apply for a Montana Resident Borrow card.
